Learners showered with brand new school uniforms for #67minutesformandela

Over 300 school uniforms were distributed amongst three schools in eMalahleni.

Nkangala District Municipality Chief Whip Conny Nkalitshana dedicated her week to Mandela Day and pulled out all the stops for learners.

Conny collaborated with various stakeholders as she handed over 300 school uniforms to different schools in the township.

The chief whip and her devoted team saw the break of dawn, identifying learners in need and helping them prepare and wear their new uniforms.

WITBANK NEWS caught up with Conny at Kopanang Secondary School in Ackerville at around 07:00 on Thursday, July 18, as she put smiles on the faces of the learners who were so eager in excitement, that they tried their new items on the spot.

Conny expressed that she was happy that her team and sponsors are committed to lending a helping hand to teachers at school in ensuring that the culture of learning is brought back into fashion at schools.

“We started this programme at the beginning of this year with the sole purpose of encouraging the culture of learning. In most instances our children come to school late, there are social ills in terms of drugs and bullying at schools,” Conny shared.

Gontse Mtshweni, a grade 12 learner at the school could not contain her joy and gratitude over the donations.

“A big thank you to the chief whip and stakeholder who took time to visit our school and for our donations. Some of my fellows will be able to prepare for school in confidence because of their new uniforms.

May the Lord bless you, chief whip, and your team for the good work you do,” Gontse cheered.
