Chieta unveils state of the art skills centre

Brand-new state-of-the-art Emalahleni Smart Skills Centre to foster digital skills development in the City of Coal.

The Chemical Industries Education and Training Authority (Chieta) was thrilled to launch their brand-new state-of-the-art Emalahleni Smart Skills Centre, a ground-breaking initiative aimed at fostering digital skills development in the City of Coal.

On Thursday, July 4, the skills centre was unveiled, and the centre promises to be a catalyst for innovation and opportunities for eMalahleni and its surrounding communities.

The futuristic skills centre boasts three VR pods, 12 workstations, a smart boardroom, and meeting rooms.

The centre is aimed at various technology-based skills programmes which will be linked to the centre, such as robotics, virtual welding, and a multitude of skills programmes and e-learning initiatives.

“We welcome the private sector’s commitment to Smart Skills Centres as these will empower youth with essential digital skills, enabling them to thrive in a rapidly evolving job market,” said Chieta CEO, Yershen Pillay.

They will focus specifically on rural youth and bringing these skills into schools and enterprises.

The centre’s key features are access to data resources, tailored training courses, support for jobseekers, assistance for business start-ups, and growth opportunities for SMMEs.
