High mast lights handed over to Makause community by Glencore

The Makause community in Phola have been afforded the opportunity to navigate their neighborhoods with confidence after high mast light donation.

In efforts to increase visibility, safety, and security in Phola, Glencore Coal successfully handed over a high mast light to the community of Makause.

The initiative will light up the streets after dark, reducing crime.

Glencore Coal issued a press release on Friday, June 21 outlining that the high mast light symbolizes its commitment to the wellbeing of the community that it operates in.

High mast lights were handed over to the Makause community in Phola by Glencore.

“By providing adequate lighting, residents will now navigate their neighborhoods with confidence, promoting a safer environment for all,” the statement read.

The community Manager at Glencore Coal Khomotjo Mashiane mentioned the importance of ensuring the safety and security of the communities in which the organisation operates.

High mast lights were handed over to the Makause community in Phola by Glencore.

“The installation of the high mast light in Makause reflects our dedication to supporting initiatives that contribute positively to the lives of residents,” said Khomotjo.

The handover was attended by representatives from local community leaders, the Emalahleni Local Municipality representatives, and residents, “highlighting the power of collaboration in creating sustainable solutions for challenges within the community,” the statement read.

Clr Betty Maphosa shared that the community is grateful for the support from Glencore in addressing the community’s concerns.

“The installation of the high mast light will undoubtedly make a difference in our daily lives, allowing us to move freely and confidently, even after sunset,” said Betty.
