Simba is doing well local vet says

Simba found a new lease on life.

A dog found on a farm on the outskirts of eMalahleni has touched the hearts of many.

Simba, which is now his name, was discovered in a state of severe neglect, emaciated and dehydrated. He has a huge lump on his right side of his face.

Simba has found a new lease on life after being rescued.

“He ate and drank a lot of water and eventually lay down in the bed we made him. He is such a friendly dog,” Kanaya Pieterse , who found him, wrote on social media.

After Simba was closely monitored during the day he started bleeding and was rushed to a local vet, Dr Nolan Landman.

Simba was put on a drip immediately

Simba is warm and cosy after being neglected.

Simba weighs 32kg, half of the weight he is supposed to be.

Landman scanned him for a microchip, but nothing was found.

“Simba was put on a drip dehydration and for antibiotics and is doing well,” said the report from Witbank Veterinary Hospital.

Landman said he estimates that Simba is three years old.

He said Simba will have to eat large puppy breed dog food, as it’s high in protein and softer than normal adult food, and once his body shows improvement he gets switched to large breed adult food.

Despite the pain and suffering he had endured, Simba’s gentle and trusting nature began to shine through as he wagged his tail every time someone came in to check on him.

Simba is ready for a new journey.
