Popular bank broken into

Criminals gained access to popular bank in eMalahleni CBD.

A bank in the CBD was broken into during the night and although the suspects could not get into any safes or get their hands on any money, they managed to get away with computer screens, and TVs inside the bank.

When the last staff member left the bank, located on Arras Street in the CBD at around 17:00 on Tuesday, June 11, all was well and there was no indication of the break-in that would occur later in the evening.

A security company in eMalahleni attended to the scene after the criminals managed to break through a shop-front window of the bank and gain entry.

They appear to have gained access through the window by using a large piece of concrete to break through one of the front windows of the bank.

“If anyone has any information regarding this break-in, we encourage them to please contact the police.

We also ask businesses to as far as possible lock away any valuable items like TVs, computer screens, and tablets from sight to prevent the temptation for criminals to target them,” commented Witbank SAPS spokesperson Captain Eddie Hall.

Anyone in the public who can assist the Witbank Police in arresting these suspects involved in this break-in and robbery can contact Witbank Detective Services standby number 079 891 4809 or crime stop on 0860010111 or contact the MySAPSApp.
