From challenges to triumphs, Yvonne transforms lives

“Disability does not mean inability, but the only disability in life is a bad attitude and not respecting one another,” said Yvonne.

Meet Yvonne Mofoleng-Tsumane, a dedicated entrepreneur, philanthropist, and compassionate individual who has made it her mission to give back to her community through her non-profit organisation ‘It Takes Foundation’.

With a heart full of love and a mind full of innovative ideas, Yvonne has been tirelessly working to address the pressing issues facing her community, from starting workshops in the community to raise awareness and assist in educating community members on disability rights and responsible stakes to assist with apparatus.

“The foundation, established in 2010, was born out of my personal experience after giving birth to a child with a condition,” said Yvonne.

Over the past six years, the non-profit organisation has expanded its reach by involving individuals who can lead various programmes.

Through her organisation, she has been able to bring people together, provide vital resources and support and inspire positive change together with the co-founders including Sarah Milo, focusing on skills development; Nonosi Molapisane, dedicated to disability rights; Mosa Tobias, who manages the disability apparatus department; and Lucky Motaung, overseeing events coordination.

The ‘It Takes Foundation’ is organising a winter challenge on June 26, and June 27 at Thubelihle in Ga-Nala district.

The upcoming event will be focusing on enhancing the health and wellness of individuals with disabilities by offering health checks, dental care, optometry checks, and physiotherapy.

The initiative is inclusive and open to everyone living with a disability, providing transportation and refreshments.

“Disability does not mean inability, but the only disability in life is a bad attitude and not respecting one another,” she concluded.
