Man searching for car after it was hijacked

A man is asking for help from the Emalahleni community to trace his car that was hijacked on the N4.

A man was terrified after being hijacked and thrown in the bushes while the criminals fled with his valuables.

On Thursday, April 25, while Aubrey Mbonani, was driving along the N4 toward the N12 in a grey VW Polo Vivo with registration number KNV82OMP, five suspects in two Polo cars allegedly blocked his path and pointed firearms at him.

“I often heard about such occurrences happening in the area, but I never thought it would happen to me,” said Mbonani.

He said one of the suspects began driving behind his car, preventing him from fleeing, while the other drove adjacent to the left side of his car.

“They came to a stop and applied hazards, forcing me to get out of the car. When I got out of the car, they aimed the weapon at me, grabbed me, and drove away with me till they dropped me at an unfamiliar veld,” he explained.

According to Mbonani, the suspects left with his car worth thousands of rands, as well as his bank cards, ID, passport, and license, “After the incident, I went to the bank and got a statement that showed that the suspects bought liquor with my card at Alexandra,” he said.

The police are still investigating this case.

“We haven’t recovered the car yet,” he concluded.

If anyone has seen the car, Mbonani would appreciate it if they could alert the nearest police station.
