Talented local singer from eMalahleni embraces his musical journey

Bonginkosi from eMalahleni wants to give people music that will be a remedy to their ears.

Following his move to a new location, Bonginkosi Tshabalala decided to pursue his lifelong passion for music.

“I started doing music in 2010 and I recorded a couple of tracks in 2013 at Time-Frame Records under Vusi Nhlapho,” said Bonginkosi.

From 2013 to 2015, Bonginkosi and his group were signed to Time-Frame Records.

However, to concentrate on his academic pursuits, he had to give up music.

“In 2015 I had to quit music and focus on my studies. In 2017, I was done with my course and joined a clap-and-tap choir called Bokang Modimo,” he said.

His love for music further deepened once he joined the clap-and-tap choir after completing his education.

During Covid-19, Bonginkosi and his brother founded Soul21, a musical group

. Following the formation of the group, Bonginkosi released his debut extended play (EP), ‘Izitha Zam’, which featured the art musician Diikay Bongani M. Trevor Maseko; his brother produced the EP.
Bonginkosi will release ‘Úmdeni’ his second EP, on May 31.

“ I got inspired by how we live in Ekasi, and music is where my heart belongs as it always feeds my soul,” Bonginkosi explained.

His music is centered around the themes of love, hope, and the township way of life.

Working alongside Sjava, Maraza, Anzo, Olifant Khetha, and many other well-known music business figures is one of his greatest ambitions.
In the music business, Bonginkosi has goals and dreams, as he sees himself developing his abilities and creating outstanding music.

“In 10 years, I want to see myself as an artist who is going to dominate the music industry and give people music that will be a remedy to their ears,” Bonginkosi concluded.

Through producing and creating his songs, the up-and-coming artist from eMalahleni displays his talents.
‘Bee-RSA’ is the stage name of 30-year-old Afro Pop writer, singer, and performer Bonginkosi Bhambatha Tshabalala.
His career as a musician began when he moved to eMalahleni to complete his secondary education, after having been born and raised in Nelspruit.
