Lawyers and staff left traumatised after armed robbery
No one was hurt during the armed robbery.
Ngomana & Associates Attorneys Inc. was robbed at gunpoint earlier this morning.
The robbers entered the law firm and robbed them of nine laptops and cellphones.
The incident took place at around 10:00.
Mr Mthokozisi Xaba, one of the attorneys for the company, was busy with his work along with his colleagues when the robbery took place.
“I was busy with an application when these guys walked in at the office and pointed a firearm at me. I got under the table, fearing for my life. They took my phone and laptop, but what amazes me, is that they didn’t take my router and money. I nearly grabbed that firearm, unfortunately, two of the other men got into my office and I had to act calm so as not to be killed,” said Xaba.
According to one of the attorneys, she was in the bathroom when the suspects knocked on the bathroom door.
She pretended to flush the toilet just so they couldn’t harm her.
They dragged her to her office and demanded she hand over her belongings, including her cellphone and laptop.
Ms Success Radebe told WITBANK NEWS that she was across the road and noticed a red car driving out of the parking at the law firm, “I was sitting at the salon opposite the building when this occurred. I did not suspect that they came to commit a crime until they came running with stuff towards the car and drove away.”
Police are investigating the robbery.
