Double-murder suspects to appear in court today

Double murder in KqaGuqa Extensions shocks the community; two will appear in court today.

Two suspects were remanded in custody last week for their alleged involvement in a double murder in KwaGuqa Extensions and will appear in court.

The accused, Thembinkosi Musia (23) and Prince Ratau (25) will appear in Witbank Magistrate Court today (April 9) for allegedly attacking and killing Mbongeni Radebe and Nkosinathi Mayela.

“It’s a nightmare we can’t wake up from. They have left us devastated, and we cannot rest until they are held accountable for their heinous actions,” said Nomvula Radebe family spokesperson.

Radebe described the happenings of that fatal night.

The late Nkosinathi Mayela.

She said on Saturday night, March 30, three attackers allegedly crashed through their window and door, and forced their way into the house while the family slept.

They targeted Mbongeni, claiming retaliation for a supposed arson incident, and allegedly dragged him out of his home despite his desperate screams.

“When I begged them to leave my son alone, the suspects beat me mercilessly with a gun. They later took him with them, and he never returned home alive. There was no need to kill them because it was not the house that burnt; it was only the TV and other stuff, which we could replace,” Radebe said.

Mayela, too, faced the wrath of the suspects as he was assaulted before managing to escape, only to succumb to his injuries days later in the hospital.
