Double murder in Vosman shocks community – 2 suspects in custody

Suspects in the Vosman double murder still in custody

Two suspects were remanded in custody for their alleged involvement in a double murder in Vosman.

The suspects, Thembinkosi Musia (23) and Prince Ratau (25) appeared in front of Witbank Magistrate Court on Tuesday, April 2, for allegedly assaulting and killing two men aged between 30 and 31 in Vosman last week.

According to reports, the suspects allegedly arrived in the area of one of the victims on Sunday, March 31, around 03:30. The mother of one of the victims, who was asleep at the time, was woken up by a strange noise outside the house at Empumelelweni.

Colonel Donald Mdhluli, a provincial police spokesperson, said, “Apparently, the house windows were allegedly smashed by the suspects as they were trying to force their way into the house after claiming that they were looking for the victim. They later took him with them, and he never returned home alive as his lifeless body was sadly found at KwaGuqa Extension 12.”

He added that the information surfaced that the same suspects allegedly assaulted another victim, who was later admitted to the hospital as a result of the sustained injuries.

“On Monday, April 1, police received some disturbing news that the other victim had succumbed to the injuries,” said Mdhluli.

The case has been adjourned until Tuesday, April 9.
