Here is the latest update on the Siyanqoba and Klarinet Bulk Water Supply

“The project is a 1.8km long pipeline of 800mm GRP pipes with an estimated budget of R28 000 000 for phase 2,” said Ba-Mamohlala project manager Edward Chikunguru.

The Ba-Mamohlala Project responsible for the Klarinet and Siyanqoba Bulk Water Supply is set to continue creating jobs whilst carrying out a mandate to ensure that each household in Siyanqoba and Klarinet has running water.

The project management team is set on communicating and providing regular updates on developments about the project.

Recently, the management issued a traffic management plan statement notifying a road closure that started from the corner of Woltemade and Gladiola Street, up to the curve in Woltemade Street.

“To facilitate excavations for laying pipes, the closure will be implemented using water-filled barriers to ensure safety and effective traffic management. This will be communicated through the councillor and local WhatsApp groups to inform residents and commuters in the affected area,” the statement read.

Klarinet and Siyanqoba Bulk Water Supply Phase 2 augmentation is the initiative of Emalahleni Local Municipality to address the water requirements for the current and future developments of the Klarinet and Siyanqoba regions.

The meeting to discuss the project’s particulars was held at Kairos Church in September 2023.

Many locals attended the meeting hosted by councillors Antonie Brits and Maureen Scheepers, as well as Ba-Mamohlala project manager Mr Edward Chikunguru and his team.

During the meeting, several concerns were raised by the residents, including the duration of the project, the impact of the project on community members, potential hazards, and mitigations.

Chikunguru was very keen to provide residents with as much information as possible.

He said he had indeed hired locals for the project, “The project is a 1.8km long pipeline of 800mm GRP pipes with an estimated budget of R28 000 000 for phase 2. It is a project with a genuine cause and goal for Siyanqoba and Klarinet residents to have enough water. Yes, the current concerns have to be addressed, hence the community meeting. In addressing the current concerns, the municipality’s capacity and functionality will be increasing. It makes the local economy grow and expand economically.”
