TUT students march against police violence in student’s tragic death

TUT The Student Representative Council (SRC) Committee leads a march demanding accountability for Thabelo Mbau's tragic death over the weekend.

Amid mounting calls for justice in the wake of Thabelo Mbau’s tragic killing, Witbank SAPS has issued a road closure notice for the planned Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) student march.

On Tuesday, March 12, at 09:00, OR Tambo Road will be closed from the N4 off-ramp at the bridge in Klipfontein to Mandela Road.

Organised by the TUT Student Representative Council (SRC)Committee, the march will start at the university’s entrance and move towards the Witbank Police Station, garnering support from student bodies such as the South African Students Congress, the Economic Freedom Fighters Student Command, and the African National Congress Youth League.

Motorists are advised to consider alternative routes during the event.

Mbau died after an alleged altercation with police on Friday, March 8.

Police confirmed that the matter is receiving high priority.
