Fill up with water, Point B Reservoir is isolated for some urgent TLC

Brace yourselves for another few days without water.

A pipe at Point B Reservoir was badly damaged and that is the reason this reservoir was isolated earlier.

“Almost all areas are affected except the ones feeding from point D and Point A will be affected,” was the message from the municipality’s communication desk.

The affected areas are: the central business district, Die Heuwel Proper, Emalahleni extensions, Lynville, Eric Liberty, KwaThomas Mahlanguville, Thushanang, Ferrobank Industrials, Sinqobile, Kwa-Guqa extensions, Empumelelweni extensions, KwaMthunzi Vilakazi, Tasbet Park extensions, Duvha Park extensions, Reyno Ridge extensions, Ben Fleur extensions, Del Judor extensions, Bankenveld, Witbank Dam, N4 Business Park and Corridor Hill.

“The team has been on site since last night draining the system however due to the capacity of the reservoir it is taking time to access the damaged pipe due to flooding.”

Repairs are estimated to be completed later this evening. Pumping to the reservoir will resume thereafter, which might take 24-48 hours to fill up before supplying to areas can begin if all goes according to plan.

It is estimated that water will only be restored in four to five days.

Point B is the second command reservoir feeding other reservoirs which are Point C and Point E that supply a majority of areas of eMalahleni.
