Witbank Police are looking for a red Volkswagen Polo in connection to a carjacking in Klipfontein

Witbank Police Spokesperson Captain Eddie Hall advised motorists to park in well-lit areas, and to be hyper-aware of their surroundings.

According to Witbank Police spokesperson Captain Eddie Hall, a 31-year-old victim was reportedly carjacked outside an auto workshop in Klipfontein..

“The victim alleged that he was inside his blue Toyota Etios at the workshop in Watermeyer Street when he was approached by four male suspects who threatened him with a firearm,” Hall said.

It is alleged that the victim was forced to lie down on the ground before he was stripped of an unknown amount of money and his cellphones.

After that, the suspects reportedly fired a single gunshot in the air before they fled off with the victim’s car on Friday, January 12 at around 22:00.

Hall advised motorists to park in well-lit areas, and to be hyper-aware of their surroundings.

“Equip your car with an anti-theft device. Lock your doors while driving.

Avoid driving alone at night when possible, and don’t stop for stranded strangers along the road.”
