Missing four-month-old baby from Ga-Nala found, two women arrested

Police found the baby as well as two other children, a boy (three years old) and a girl (eight months old) with the suspects in a shack in Ogies.

Two foreign national females were arrested by Kriel police yesterday (January 1) in connection with the four-month-old baby girl that went missing on December 28.

Police found the baby as well as two other children, a boy (three years old) and a girl (eight months old) with the suspects in a shack in Ogies.

It is alleged by the suspects that one baby girl was stolen from Springs in September, a baby boy was stolen from Marble Hall in April and the last baby girl was stolen in Kriel.

According to the four-month-old baby’s mother from Thubelihle in Ga-Nala, her daughter was taken by two women pretending to be caregivers.

The women told the mother they were taking the baby to a clinic to get an injection and then bring her back and give the mother food for the baby.

The motive for stealing the babies is still unknown.

Both suspects  will appear in Kriel Magistrate’s Court today (January 2) facing charges of abduction.

Kriel police are asking for assistance in finding the relatives of the 3-year-old boy and eight-month-old girl.  Anyone with information regarding the two children can call Kriel SAPS at 082 798 0723.
