The damaged road in Schonland Drive (Moses Kotane) only to be repaired next year

The affected area has been barricaded and motorists are urged to drive with extra caution.

Repairs to the road on Schonland Drive (Moses Kotane) that was washed away earlier this month, will only be repaired in January next year.

The area has been barricaded and motorists are urged to drive with extra caution.

The municipal team conducted a visual assessment to determine the nature and extent of the defects to derive a reinstatement strategy.

Communication with the donor mine and the engineers on the project was established and there were agreements made on the reinstatement of the road.

However, due to the commencement of the builder’s holidays, the repairs and reinstatement could not be undertaken within the desired period due to Asphalt Manufacturing Plants not operating during the festive season.

Emalahleni Local Municipality urges motorists, pedestrians and road users to be patient and accommodating of each other to avoid road rage and possible incidents by planning their travelling arrangements.

Alternative routes within eMalahleni can be used to access different destinations within KwaGuqa Location.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused especially during this period of the month, whereby traffic volumes have increased,” reads a statement issued by the communication unit of the municipality.
