Glencore Coal recently invited Klipportjie Phola, Albion farming communities, and local schools to its annual community open day.
The invited communities were afforded the opportunity to learn about mining operations, the opportunities that exist within the operations, and how the communities can access them.
Learners from the schools were informed of the requirements needed to qualify for bursaries, learnerships, and other community training initiatives.
Khomotjo Mashiana, Glencore Coal Community Manager said that these types of engagements help the institution work towards a mutually sustainable future, and a favourable relationship with valued community members, “This is a very important day for us because we value the interactions, we have with our community members. The focus today is to ensure that our communities understand what our business entails and how we operate,” said Khomotjo.
