Another day, another house robbery in eMalahleni

The victim was suddenly awakened by noises coming from the front door.

Residents are cautioned to be more vigilant when it comes to safety at home, especially with the festive season approaching the number of house robberies is expected to sharply rise.
In two recent cases, Christmas came early for robbers who tried their luck and succeeded in their attempts to steal and plunder what they could carry.
In the first instance in Siyanqoba on Thursday, November 30 in the evening hours, a resident was sound asleep when robbers came in the dead of night and broke into the victim’s home.
According to reports, the victim was suddenly awakened by noises coming from the front door and went to investigate.

The victim alleged that the robbers were armed and at first were throwing stones at the house before gaining entry.

Once the robbers were inside, the victim alleged that the robbers were threatening him with a firearm and he had to comply.
The robbers fled with many household items including a flat-screen television set and the victim’s Isuzu bakkie.

Luckily the victim was not harmed and investigations are ongoing.
In the second case, a woman was bound with cable ties for many hours after her home was robbed.

On Friday, December 1 a resident was fast asleep in the early morning hours when her small breed dog started barking uncontrollably waking the homeowner up in the process.

The resident then decided to investigate further and stumbled upon three unknown men in her lounge area.
After seeing the unknown men, the woman ran back to her bedroom and tried to lock the door, but one of the assailants pushed the door open and entered the room.
According to reports, the victim pleaded with the robber to not hit her, but it fell on deaf ears and the robber allegedly slapped the victim in the face before tying her hands together using cable ties.
The woman said she then heard the other two unknown males call for the third robber.

The victim was instructed to lie down before the robber fled the room.

The suspects then fled the scene taking what they could carry.

The shaken-up victim could not do anything to break free and had to wait for the house help to arrive the next morning.
Investigations are ongoing.
