Vosman police collaborated with numerous organisations to raise awareness against GBV

Nine motorists were issued with traffic fines for violating the Road Traffic Act.

Vosman Police in collaboration with Emalahleni Law Enforcement and numerous organisations began the festive season operations with a roadblock.

The roadblock dedicated to the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children Initiative saw the likes of organisations such as Men for Change, Women’s Network, Community in Blue, and the Community Policing Forum (CPF) join forces.

According to Vosman Police Station Commander Brigadier Lindani Ndlovu, the formations seized during the roadblock allowed the organisations to distribute pamphlets containing crime prevention tips, “Several motorists who passed through the roadblock encouraged the police to continue with such operations as it makes them feel safe,” Ndlovu commented.

Ndlovu further outlined that the main aim of the roadblock is crime deterrence, and to stamp the authority during the GBV campaign.

According to the report, a white Nissan NP200 was confiscated for further investigation, after it was discovered that the engine number was tempered with.

Nine motorists were issued with traffic fines for violating the Road Traffic Act, “Some motorists were penalised for driving vehicles with expired licence discs, and some had no driver’s licence in their possession,” Ndlovu informed.

More than 500 people were searched, including over 190 vehicles to detect any illegal items.

Ndlovu ended by thanking the relevant stakeholders who were in accord with the roadblock that took place on Mathews Maphosa Drive on Wednesday, November 29.

“The stakeholders and the police will continue to work together in all endeavours that seek to eliminate violence against women and children, as to combat crime in the area,” Ndlovu ended.
