Primary school learners receive motivation from well-known actors

The learners were told that the performing arts world is a space that provides constant opportunities to learn and grow.

Learners of two schools, Maloma Primary School and Khayalethu Primary School were fortunate to get a first account of motivation from well-known actors.

Well-known actor Sphiwe Nkosi who has acted in ‘Emzini Wezinsizwa’, ‘Generations’ and other television shows motivating learners at Maloma Primary School.

The actors which include Sphiwe Nkosi (Emzini Wezinsizwa, Generations), Khomotso Mathebula Uncle Umalaume, Thankeka, KoMkhulu as an extra), Bongi Mbonani (KomMkhulu).

The programme is run by SM Pro Studious and Run of the Arts as an audience and school programme and is funded by SEF (Assitej SA).

The programme teaches arts in schools that include (drama, poetry, dance music and other fields). SM Pro Studious and Run of the Arts brought the arts to creative classes that they teach for final and year-end motivation to aspiring artists.

The learners were told that the performing arts world is a space that provides constant opportunities to learn and grow, not only as performers but as human beings, too.

They were told that they need to aim high to reach their goals and that reaching those goals takes time, hard work and dedication and were given hope that sometimes when we’re in the thick of it, seeing the big picture can be difficult, and striving toward big goals can seem daunting.

“The most important thing is to study and study the relevant subjects. The industry is very wide and not only about acting some are script writers, editors, stage managers, lighting managers, sound mixing, video photography and many other courses. One can learn to act from university, colleges or other institutions like Fuba,” said Sphiwe Nkosi.

The learners were also told to research more before deciding that discipline and professionalism are not negotiable and that they should be the bare minimum for one to succeed.
