Vosman Police and locals team up against poverty

Recently, Vosman Police joined with local stakeholders to give away food donations to community members in need.

Vosman Police, in partnership with a local company and the Disability is Not Inability group, extended a helping hand to five needy families.

The benevolent gesture, consisting of wheelchair donations, food parcels, and hygiene dignitary packs, was presented on Friday, November 10, at Vosman Police Station.

Brigadier Lindani Ndlovu expressed that the beneficiaries were identified through the Social Crime, Women Network, and Men for Change initiatives.

Ndlovu emphasised that their duty often exposes them to struggling families. “We come across needy families when we are on duty; we see how other families are struggling to make ends meet, and the reason behind some of the arrests is hunger,” Ndlovu emphasised, highlighting the community’s challenges.

Acknowledging that their role extends beyond law enforcement, Ndlovu revealed that the police station actively seeks sponsors to assist families facing hardships.

The event witnessed the presence of various dignitaries, including Councillor Shintsha Thobela of Ward 2, who commended the police for their actions and pledged ongoing support for future community initiatives.

Sipho Tyobeka from Disability is Not Inability and Chankie Moloto donated a wheelchair to 81-year-old Lisbeth Motha.

Nhlamulo Malungana, speaking on behalf of Men for Change and the Women’s Network, encouraged the police to persist in their community support endeavours.

Ndlovu added that the families that received the parcels should know that the parcels come from people with a safety mandate.

They also have an eye out to see where they can lend a helping hand.
