Witbank Citylads losing another game to Middelburg United

Citylads could not obtain victory this time against Middelburg United.

In the last two matches Witbank Citylads have played, they lost both of them by failing to protect their lead or to force a draw.

After a promising start, they need to up their game and maintain consistency.

Citylads lost their game against Mpumalanga Football Academy during their league match played at Lynnville Stadium on Saturday, October 28.

Academy won 3-2. On Saturday, November 4 they lost 2-1 to Middelburg United.

Citylads had a good start against United, even though United were the first to try and break the deadlock, but forward Silindile Nhlapho’s efforts were in vain as he was flagged for offside.

United had another chance when Bongane Mathabela’s placekick was saved for a corner-kick.

In the fifth minute of the match, United Thokazani Sibanyoni scored after a beautiful curly.

City were playing under pressure but tried their best to absorb the pressure.

City winger Thato Mailula initiated a move, but the attack failed as Nkonzehle Hlongwe squared the chance.

City had a breakthrough attack when Mthobisi Dlongolo was set for a pass but failed to convert.

City had a place-kick, but Hlongwe failed in his attempt.

City stabilised United’s attacks, and they started going forward with Hlongwe leading in the attack.

In one of the attacks, United’s goalkeeper, Sizwe Rabothatha did well to save a shot. City were awarded a place-kick on the D-line, but Bhanayi Nasiphi missed his target.

United’s Sibanyoni in a break attack had a chance to increase the score, but his shot was saved for a corner kick.

City had their first corner taken by Nasiphi and Sipha Hlubi passed to Nasipha, who failed to make good use of the move.

Hlubi was at the right time and in the right position when he equalised for City with a header to make it 1-1.

City were playing as a unit and were adding numbers up front and had a place-kick and the shot just went over the crossbar.

United substituted Mathabela and Siyabulela Yawa for Mvumbu Siphesihle and Lorenzo Winter, while City Dlongolo was red-carded for rough play. The teams break for half-time at 1-1.

United had a place-kick and Yawa’s shot went over the crossbar.

United’s Winter also received a red card, and the teams were now even, playing with ten players each.

City reserve goalkeeper Mtho Zulu had to come in after Thembinkosi Mbiyozo was injured.

United’s fast-paced striker Hector Tshabangu crossed for Nyembe Zakhele, who easily converted to make it 2-1.

City had another corner kick, but Bhanayi failed to put it in the net.

A City forward failed to equalise with a sitter after a cross from Bhanayi.

As the clock ticked towards the end, City had numerous goal attempts, but they failed where it mattered most, putting the ball in the net.
