St Thomas Aquinas School opens new pavilion

The pavilion will be used to host swimming galas, movie nights, and praise worship gatherings.

St Thomas Aquinas School celebrated the official opening of the much anticipated pavilion.

Unveiling of the plaque is Mr Bongani Thomo (Current Chairperson) and Mr Trevor Barnes.

The event was officiated by Bishop Thaddeus Khumalo alongside Mrs Marlinda Lange the Principal of St Thomas Aquinas School. Bishop Khumalo opened with prayer and blessings.

He went on to congratulate the school of the prestigious pavilion, “Lord show us your goodness in answer to these prayers, so that the benefits of this new facility in lies of goodness and truth,” Bishop Khumalo prayed.

The pavilion was named the St Thomas Aquinas Wellness Centre. The pavilion’s name was chosen in honour of the Dominican Ethos, it also is a representation of the motto for the centre ‘Strive to Achieve Success’.

Mrs Marlinda Lange the Principal of St Thomas Aquinas School gave a heartfelt speech right before the cutting of the ribbon and revelation of the plaque.

She emphasise that the wellness centre is set to be a hub of health vitality, “We will be able to host more swimming galas in the future because of this beautiful facilities. We plan to host movie nights, praise and worship gathering and Easter Sunday Sunrise Service, which is why the name wellness was chosen,” the principal said.

 

 

“We would like to thank our sponsors for the gazebos we borrowed on the day. Then a special thank you to Bishop Thaddeus Khumalo for the ceremony and the blessing of the plaque and the pavilion,” said Mrs Lange.

 

Parents came out in numbers to support the much anticipated event that took lace on Friday, October 13.

The official opening was filled with sun cooling refreshments, music from the schools choir and band for entertainment.

In the end the learners, parents and teachers enjoyed, danced and sang to the bands music and celebrated the opening.
