Duvha Primary does not take spelling lightly

Ayanda Masuku, organiser and founder of The Pink Foundation, said that it has been a successful event.

Duvha Primary School is proud to announce that one of its learners exceeded expectations when the school hosted the annual Spelling Bee competition.

One hundred and sixty young participants from five schools showed up to showcase their spelling, memory, and pronunciation skills on Saturday, September 23.

Tsakani Thobela, a grade six learner, did her school proud when she took part in the high-stakes event, saying it was a great experience.

“Ostentatious is relatively a long word, and longer words are often more difficult to spell correctly due to the increased number of letters to remember and arrange in the correct order,” said Tsakani when asked about the word that was most challenging to spell saying that the word has a complex pronunciation, which might not be noticeable from its spelling making it harder for contestants to sound out the word accurately.

Ayanda Masuku, organiser and founder of The Pink Foundation, said that it has been a successful event.

“We would like to thank all the stakeholders who supported our competition, and we look forward to the future and growth of the Spelling Bee competition.”

Maria Nekhudzhiga, the school’s principal, said it was an excellent performance from the learners who partook in the event.

“They managed to go through the circuit and went through to represent the district. We are proud of our learners as curriculum and sport are very important,” concluded the principal.
