The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (Denosa) has recognised excellence in the nursing field.
On Thursday, September 28 all attendees dressed in traditional attire to celebrate seven nurses nominated for the Marilyn Lihana Caring Awards held at The Ridge.
The awards aim to honour and celebrate nursing staff that go over and above in the nursing field.
One nurse from the Witbank Hospital, Esther Phasha walked away with the honour of being the overall winner.
Another nurse from the Witbank Hospital, Nelisiwe Ngwenya, came second and was awarded as the first runner-up.
Overall winner Esther Phasha will continue to compete for the national title when she represents the province.
Denosa congratulated all the nominees and winners saying, “We encourage other nurses to continue and nominate each other as they perform work that no other can perform, except a nurse,” reads a statement issued by the organisation.
