World-class South African choir visits eMalahleni

Bokamoso Arts Institute Choir scooped gold medals at the World Choir Games in Korea.

One of the best choirs in the country recently visited eMalahleni.

Bokamoso Arts Institute Choir was recently hosted by Visit Vakasha in partnership with Emalahleni Municipality.

The choir is the African champion in the African Choral and Gospel Competition which was held in Rwanda in 2022.

The choir has performed in several competitions in the country since its inception and has won many of them.

Last year the choir management challenged the choir further by entering the World Choir Games which were hosted by South Korea.

To make this dream become a reality the management appointed Mohamu Mogale a well-known writer and conductor as the project manager and conductor for the World Choir Games.

The choir has made the country proud with their achievement at the World Choir Games in Korea.

The choir competed in three categories and scooped gold medals in all of them.

The choir was established in 2020 by its management of Tiro Mpane (president), Ncebo Mdaka (CEO) and music director Kgaugelo Mpyane.

The institution has more than 100 unemployed singers who are well-balanced among all vocal ranges singers who are from all over South Africa.

Mdaka said that they shall never give up on their dream of becoming the best in the world for the dream is the only thing they have.

The choir hope to improve the standard of living of artist by creating projects and productions that will empower members of the community around Mabopane and Soshanguve as well as to encourage cross-cultural participation of all ethnic, cultural, language, religious and socio-economic groups as their mission.

The World Choir Games are expected to be hosted in Auckland New Zealand next year.
