Driverless truck found in accident on N4

Truck carrying coal loses control on N4.

The driver of a truck carrying coal travelling from eMalahleni to Middelburg on the N4 somehow lost control and rolled down an embankment early this morning (September 14).

The truck was carrying coal when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The accident occurred at the Olifants River bridge about five kilometres outside the city.

The truck ran through two barriers ending up on the opposite side of the road.

When police arrived at the scene, the driver was nowhere to be found.

It is believed that the truck drove through the barrier after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

According to one official the Witbank Hospital has been contacted to enquire if a male has been brought in by a concerned citizen but to no avail. The driver of the truck is still being searched for.

Recovery vehicles have been dispatched and the truck has been towed.
