House robbers getting brazen – Two robberies in one day in broad daylight

Two house robberies took place in broad daylight and on the same day.

Robbers have been very busy in the city and suburbs.

Home robberies are planned and robbers do not hesitate to carry out their plans.

Two robberies took place in the afternoon hours on Wednesday, August 23.

The first robbery happened in Model Park when a homeowner and helper were alone at home. According to the victim, the home helper heard a commotion at the property’s gate.

The helper then went to find out what the unknown men wanted.

The homeowner then said that all went quiet, followed by a scream coming from the kitchen.

As she entered the kitchen, she was met by one unknown male who pointed at her with a firearm.

According to the victim, while she was held up at gunpoint, five other unknown males searched her home looking for valuables.

She was then forced into the room containing the safe, where she was forced to open the safe containing more valuables like rings and other jewellery.

It was later revealed that the front gate had been removed from the rail, making access to the yard easier for the robbers.

Luckily, no one was injured and investigations are ongoing.

The second home robbery took place in Ben Fleur where robbers tried their luck and fled with a television set, laptops, and other valuables. It is believed that the suspects scouted the area beforehand before choosing their next victims.

The victim, who would wish to remain anonymous, said that he was busy cutting the grass when he went to the toilet.

Upon returning, he noticed two vehicles, a white Mercedes-Benz, and a white V-Class Mercedes-Benz, parked in front of his yard. According to the victim, there were two unknown males in the one vehicle.

One male then approached the victim, asking if the victim knew where their colleague was, who was busy doing renovations for a homeowner.

The victim denied seeing anybody, and the pair left.

After a while, he noticed that the two vehicles were back yet again parked in front of his residence. It is unclear how the men gained access to the homeowner’s yard.

The victim stated that the men instructed him to run, and so he did.

The victim then took cover in a nearby area and waited until the vehicles left.

Armed security was notified in the meantime, but it was too late, as the robbers had already fled the scene.

The estimated value of the stolen property has been verified by the homeowner as about R5 000.

Investigations are still ongoing.
