Witbank Police Celebrate Mandela Day

Sergeant David Ratau said the police will help attain birth certificates for the children.

Members of Witbank Police visited a child headed home in Masakhane for Mandela Day. The police refurbished the home and donated clothes to the children and grandmother.

Witbank Police Sergeant David Ratau said the police are in contact with social workers to help attain birth certificates for the children.

“Sergeant Thuliswa Mathabiswa and Constable Priscilia Nkosi identified the home in need. We have contacted social workers so that they can assist the children with their birth certificates, receive social grants, and go back to school,” Ratau said.

The police also donated food parcels and clothes to the children on Mandela Day, July 18.

He went on to say that the Department of Safety in KwaMhlanga donated a water tank to the home as there is no water in Masakhane informal settlements near Duvha Park.

Ratau concluded by saying that Witbank Police has committed itself to the home as they believe this should be an ongoing project and not only for Mandela Day.
