Another recent incident in Hlalanikahle on Friday, July 21, serves as a stark reminder of the urgency of the situation.

The victim was ambushed while collecting his laundry by three armed men, who brandished a firearm during the carjacking.

A gunshot echoed through the air as the assailants forcefully subdued the victim, inflicting harm with the firearm.

The hijackers left with the victim’s Toyota GD6.

”In the extreme situation, they must try to observe any suspicious vehicles following them. They must not park their cars at their gate because most of the hijackings take place right there when trying to enter their homes. Parking vehicles in the bushes must be avoided at all costs, as there have been hijackings that have taken place in such places. The community is also advised not to give lifts to strangers or use their vehicles as taxis, as this is a receipt for trouble,” said Vosman Police spokesperson Captain Elizabeth Hlathi.
