Speaker’s office held an outreach programme to cluster stakeholders

The summit addressed several issues with ward councillors, community development workers (CDW) and ward committee members.

The office of the speaker of Emalahleni Local Municipality Clr Mduduzi Nkosi recently held a summit to discuss issues.

Mpumalanga MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) Mandla Msibi was present during the summit.

The summit was held to issues discuss with councillors, community development workers (CDW), and ward committee members.

During the summit, the representatives were supposed to form five commissions.

The speaker’s office held the outreach to cluster stakeholders and ward committee members.

The commissions were to discuss on review and aligning ward operational plans and municipal planning processes in line with the current municipality challenges.

They also brainstormed on the implementation of stakeholder engagement policies, ward governance and public policy reviews, reporting and assessment of ward committees and alignment of portfolios to directorates, and improvement of community participation in the Integrated Development Plan (IDP).

Budget consultative engagements and the introduction of e-Participation and Policy Modelling Platforms for South Africa were also being looked at.

Because of time constraints, the representative could not discuss the issues and they were told arrangements will be made for them to discuss the issues in their wards and to report back to the office of the speaker.

It was for that reason that the speaker’s office held the outreach to cluster stakeholders and ward committee members.

The wards were grouped for easy management.

The meeting was therefore held in different venues in the city on Tuesday, July 4.

The issue to be discussed were: ward profiling, service delivery issues, indigent subsidy registrations, child-headed households, elderly and persons with disabilities, police clearance certificates, reconfigured ward committee portfolios, ward committee and ward community meetings and the announcement on the CDW and ward committee summit commissions.

In one of the meetings in Vosman Community Hall officials from the office of the speaker clarify some of the issues to be discussed.

Commander of Vosman Police Station Brigadier Lindani Ndlovu.
