Former Kraggies and Technical High School learner has her sight set on the Miss SA crown

Michelle is under the Top 30 in the Miss SA pageant.

The mere act of showing up for yourself every day will begin to shift the world in your favour.”

This is the motto of local beauty; Michelle Kruger (28) lives by.

Michelle whose roots are deeply embedded in the City of Coal is among the Top 30 finalists for the very sought-after Miss South Africa 2023 crown.

Michelle, a former learner at Laerskool Kragbron and the Technical High School said she decided to enter the competition because at this stage her cup is overflowing with God’s abundance and she wants to make a difference.

Being a candidate attorney who holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts in Law qualifications from the University of Pretoria gives her the right tools to shed light on human rights in South Africa.

“I am troubled by unfairness and refuse to be complacent when faced with injustice. I am working towards being in a position to implement new laws in South Africa which will help level the playing fields. I truly believe that everything I am and that I have to offer is aligned with what South Africa currently needs – inspiration, hope, advocacy, and the urgency to act.”

Michelle believes a Miss South Africa is a woman who exudes compassion in her daily acts; is passionate about and dedicated to meaningful socio-economic changes in her country; has a strong moral character; has emotional intelligence and strength and is a positive influence on – and role model to her fellow South Africans.

Michelle loves life, and people but she does not like raisins.

This fact popped up when she had to list five facts people may not know about her.

The other four are, she has a cat named Loki, she fosters stray animals, and she is 173cm tall and would love to pursue politics as a career one day.

Here are three more questions Michelle answered:

If you could have lunch with anyone famous who would it be and why?

Mmusi Maimane because I aspire to be like him one day. I would pick his brain on politics and also ask him what his advice would be to me as an aspiring female politician who has big hopes and dreams for her country.

What is your message to young girls and young women in South Africa?

You do not have to be a product of your circumstances; you can be a product of your choices.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

I probably say ‘lekker’ and ‘nê’ at least once a day.
