Have you registered for all rooftop solar photovoltaic installations?

To prevent additional service fees and possible disconnection, register for all rooftop solar PV systems.

Emalahleni Local Municipality is calling upon residents and business owners of the City of Coal to register their rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) installations, both grid-tied and off-grid small-scale embedded generations (SSEG), to avoid additional service fees and possible disconnection.

The due date for the registration is Friday, December 1.

Municipal customers are hereby informed of the following regulations regarding new-generation capacity:

NRS 097-2: Grid interconnection of embedded generation: Part 2: Small-scale embedded generation (NRS097-2-1 and NRS097-2-3)

SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-1-2: The wiring of premises (as amended and published)

The municipality has since developed by-laws for SSEG, which can be found in the municipal by-laws as follows:

3.1 Compliance with the relevant requirements of the municipality about the generation of electricity and the safety thereof contained in any guideline or policy issued by the municipality in respect thereof.

3.2 Registration with the Municipality of all fixed electrical installations where electricity is generated and compliance with the Municipality’s safety and quality requirements contained in any guideline or policy issued by the Municipality in respect thereof.

Go to www.emalahleni.gov.za/ for registration details, and contact Ms Rancey More at 013 690 6526 for further details.
