Ward councillors are doing their bit for a better city

From donating warm clothes to repairing broken stormwater drains, these councillors are keeping themselves busy.

Ward councillors have been busy in the areas helping the less fortunate and cleaning and maintaining their wards as much as they can.

Two councillors, Salome Kriel and Kim Faduk are busy with projects in their wards.

These projects are aimed at repairing infrastructures and helping the less fortunate.

Ward Councillor Kim Faduk has been out and about with her second Community Give-Away Project in Ward 33.

Kim held a drive where she collected donated warm clothes for the less fortunate.

According to Kim, it took her and her helpers six hours to donate all the received clothing on April 27.

This is the second time I have done this project. It has always been my passion to help the community. Many out there can not afford to buy warm clothes this winter,” Kim said.

Kim collected 50 black bags of clothing from the residents of Ward 33.

Ward 18 Councillor, Salome Kriel has been busy with various projects in her ward in the past eight weeks.

“We have started with cutting grass at the bridge in Universe Street,” said Salome.

According to Salome, she chose to start with the grass cutting there since the bridge is used daily by learners going to school.

“One big problem is the long grass in Reyno Ridge 4 and it will be attended to,” said Salome.

Salome has also taken it upon herself to fix broken stormwater drains in her ward.

One of the stormwater drains was repaired and looks new.

“The repairs are not complete as we are actively busy collecting funds to complete the repairs. After repairing the stormwater drains, there are many more projects I’d like to take on to make Ward 18 residents proud of a cleaner and better ward,” Salomi concluded.
