Executive Mayor confirms she is doing well today after attack yesterday

The office of the mayor confirmed that the municipality is in the process of sourcing funds to purchase the new transformer.

Executive Mayor of Emalahleni Local Municipality Clr Conny Nkalitshana is doing well after being attacked by angry protestors yesterday (Thursday, May 11).

Nkalitshana visited the scene of the protests where she spoke to community members when stones were thrown at her during the meeting.

This comes after protests that hindered traffic on the N4 toll road for four days over the ongoing power supply and service delivery challenges.

 

Manager to the office of the mayor, Mr Lesley Nhlapho confirmed that she was rushed to an emergency healthcare facility to

receive medical attention.

 

Nhlapho also refuted claims labelled against Clr Nkalitshana that she uttered derogatory statements to KwaGuqa and Vosman residents during the course of the meeting which led to the violent outburst from community members. 

 

The office of the mayor on Friday, May 12 confirmed it is in the process of sourcing funds to purchase the new transformer.

 

The municipality also expressed its concerns over the difficulties endured by its technical team in terms of accessing the location of the old transformer stationed in the area.
