AICCT in partnership with Zimbali Foundation donated 500 packages of reusable sanitary pads

Various stakeholders visited Elukhanyisweni to distribute sanitary towels and raise awareness about menstrual hygiene.

The Anglo Inyosi Coal Community Trust (AICCT) in partnership with Zimbali Foundation donated 500 packages of reusable sanitary towels at Elukhanyisweni Secondary School.

They donated reusable Palesa Pads at the school on Wednesday, April 19.

Anglo Inyosi Coal Community Trust (AICCT) was established by Anglo-American Thermal and Anglo Inyosi (Pty) Ltd in 2007 and it became operational in 2009. AICCT is a public benefit organization, funded jointly by the donors on an annual basis, and its sole object is empowering the communities as defined in its trust deed.

AICCT intends to implement a broad-based socio-economic ownership strategy by empowering communities within the geographic environs of Anglo-American Inyosi Coal mines.

The geographic environs are eMalahleni and Ogies.

The five focus areas for AICCT are welfare and humanitarianism, health care, land and housing, education and development conservation, environment and animal welfare. 

Ms Esther Sibiya, founder of Zimbali Foundation explained how her non-profit organisation provides love, care, and support to underprivileged children.

The partnership between the two organisations led to the presentation of the reusable sanitary pad drive.

Through alternative academic programmes donations and the provision of basic necessities like food, stationery, toiletries and school uniforms, the organisation aims to create a healthy environment that allows children to thrive.

The trust and project managers were tasked with exploring different ways to help Zimbali Foundation become more sustainable in executing their work in eMalahleni.

Their major task was for toiletries and sanitary towels to be donated to their beneficiaries.

As a part of this mission, the Anglo Inyosi Coal Community Trust has donated reusable sanitary pads to the foundation, which will help to reduce waste and provide a sustainable solution to a critical need for underprivileged students.

The Trust is proud to support the Zimbali Foundation in its efforts to provide essential support and resources to those in need.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Zimbali Foundation and support their critical work in the community,” said Ms Lindi Mahlangu of Anglo Inyosi Coal Community Trust.

 

“We hope that our donation of reusable sanitary pads will help to make a real difference in the lives of underprivileged students at Elukhanyisweni Secondary School and support the Zimbali Foundation’s goal of creating a healthy environment that allows children to thrive.”

The goal of the Zimbali Foundation’s most recent programme is to raise the necessary funds to carry out its mission for one financial year.

The Trust encourages others to join them in supporting this worthy cause and help provide a sustainable solution to the critical needs of underprivileged children in eMalahleni.

Ms Simphiwe Mahlangu, event ambassador of Palesa Pads explained what the packages contained: It has four different sizes and colour-coded pads as well as other cleaning products.
