Another day, another hijacking

In two recent hijackings over the weekend, suspects fled with cellphones, bank cards, driver’s licenses, and other valuables.

Hijackings are an ongoing story, with more happening every day.

On Saturday, March 25, a vehicle was hijacked in Lynnville.

According to reports, the man was driving a Renault Kwid down Hector Way Drive when a Ford Bantam approached and blocked his route, and as he tried to turn around, a white Polo stopped behind him.

Six suspects wearing masks allegedly exited the cars and approached the complainant, telling him to get out of the car; one of them stabbed him with a knife, while the other struck him on the head with a firearm.

They dragged him out of the car and drove away with it and his other belongings.

On Sunday, March 26, it was no different when a man was driving a Toyota Hilux at Ackerville around 21:00.

According to reports, the complainant was standing with his partner near their vehicle when he spotted four armed suspects wearing masks approaching them and others going to the car.

One of the suspects asked for the car keys, which were inside the ignition.

Then the complainant took the keys and threw it into the yard of a property he had visited.

One of the suspects shot into the ground near his feet and then searched him.

He took his smartphone, all of his credit cards, and his driver’s license.

They walked to the yard where he had thrown the keys and discovered them.

They took his car and drove away.

These cases are still under investigation by the Vosman Police.

Vosman Police Captain Vusi Mnisi said the Vosman Police are sensitizing all community members not to drive alone during the night and not to hang around until late because the incidents in most cases happen during the late hours and even in the early morning hours.
