Sanco repairing and protecting community facilities

Sanco is making a difference in Hlalanikahle.

The South African Civil Organisation (Sanco) in Ward 2 Hlalanikahle has embarked on repairing and protecting community facilities in most areas of KwaGuqa.

The organisation recently rebuild and painted a child-headed family burned house in Hlalanikahle and now they have taken a step further by repairing the community hall in Hlalanikahle.

According to Warren Masemola, a Sanco official, the vandalised community hall made the organisation take a stand and correct the situation to clean up the facility and protect it from further damage.

He said most of the facilities have been damaged, like football grounds, buy-back centres and parks in the past.

“We are going back in terms of development in our areas and we have decided to embark on repairing and protecting our facilities. We invited the Community Policing Forum (CPF), Vosman Police, Sanco, ward councillor, ward committee members and members of the community. We call upon everybody to defend our multi-purpose facilities. We are all responsible to protect what is ours, we have to join hands in cleaning and protecting our facilities. We need to find a mechanism in which we can fix our facilities,” Masemola said.

Masemola further stated that they want community members to understand that vandalism is a suppression of development.

As Sanco they would like to thank the Vosman Police, CPF, Sanco, community members and ward committee members by offering to support in cleaning and protecting the community hall.

He hopes that will lead to progress in terms of development in the different areas. Sanco has indicated that they have the potential to change the environment together with all those who are willing to assist.

“We hope we all understand that we should save the future for the sake of our children as they are the future leaders. Let’s not allow history to judge us, we must take care of what we have to build on what we do not have, our children must benefit from the seed of democracy,” added Masemola.

All those willing to assist with fencing, glasses, painting, doors, electric wires and related electrical equipment can contact Masemola at 060 881 2764 or Sanco regional secretary at 066 541 1070.
