Uncle P has got a cool arts centre in the township

Uncle P is a passionate 42-year-old who madly loves the arts industry. His gifts and talents were too much to turn a blind eye to ever since his toddler stages.

‘Uncle Phineas and His Dream’ is a staged theatre play that showcases the life of Uncle Phineas (42) who owns an arts centre in his township.

Uncle P with the help of his friend, Ndrukza (40) teaches the youth and children how to dance, act, sing, and play a variety of instruments.

The constant fight between them arises from the lack of funds to maintain the building’s facilities, the needs of the performers, a new set of instruments, and the lack of guidance from an arts administrator.

Uncle Phineas’ dream manifests after he and his friend took an Arts Administration course at Witbank Arts Campus.

The dream is to set free the gifted but deprived and disbelieved.

His gifts and talents were too much to turn a blind eye to ever since his toddler stages.

He was seen to be the first in his township to rise and be a superstar, but that all got swapped away by lack of knowledge, age, financial commitments, and disbelief in the future possibilities.

The only way for him to survive suicide is to live again through the upcoming generation by imparting his skills, guarding and nurturing every gift and talent that he spots in his arts centre and the community at large.

Ndrukza is a 40-year-old acting practitioner. He is Uncle P’s best friend ‒ one that understands his vision and supports the dream like no other.

He teaches acting in the arts centre which he co-owns with Uncle Phineas.

Ndrukza is a bubbly soul that always finds its way to happiness. He is always positive and eager to see the day Uncle P’s dream comes true.
