Middelburg United beat Sivutsa Stars

Stars scored their goal in the dying minutes of the match to make it 2-1.

Middelburg United has made Lynnville Stadium their happy hunting ground and they have won their last two matches playing on the ground.

On Saturday, March 18 they were playing Sivutsa Stars at the Lynnville Stadium and they won the match 2-1.

The match was very entertaining from the start to the end as United tried to show their dominance in this encounter.

Even though Stars are placed second on the log table with 29 points and United are placed fourth with 25 points, on Saturday it was a different ball game.

United forward Siya Yawa played one of his best games when he kept Stars defence very busy.

One of his shots was blocked in the early minutes of the match. Another United player, Xolani Ndlovu was very instrumental in United’s win when he scored the first goal.

Stars were awarded a corner-kick and Karabo Phokane nearly scored with a low shot. United were playing a free-flowing match and attacked Stars from all angles.

Stars players Prayer Khoza and Jafeth Ubusi nearly resulted in a goal but the shot went wide.

Ndlovu was back in the picture when he scored the second goal.

Stars made some substitutes but United kept the pressure until the teams break for half-time with United leading 2-0.

In the second half Stars played better with more attacks than in the first half.

United defence of Milagri Zulu, Bongane Dlungwane and Nkosikhona Mabutyana played well.

Stars had chance to score when Mbongeni Ngcongo’s shot was blocked.

United returned the favour when Ndlovu’s shot was saved for a corner-kick. Ndlovu was all over the field with his attacks.

Stars Bhekani Mthembu initiated a move from the back and Mlungisi failed to score when he was well-placed to score.

Stars scored their goal in the dying minutes of the match to make it 2-1 and went back home in Mbombela without any points.
