Two arrested for stolen copper and damaging essential infrastructure at primary school

The chase stretched through the streets until the bakkie stopped on Main Street. Police searched the bakkie and discovered the alleged stolen copper cable.

The quick and professional response from CSC Virtual Guarding in conjunction with members of Witbank Police led to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of stolen copper worth R10 000.

The two suspects were charged with possession of stolen copper and damaging essential infrastructure.

They appeared in Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, March 9.

The case was postponed for further investigation.

According to information, security guards were on duty on March 8 at 04:00 when they saw a suspicious white Ford bakkie in Blancheville.

The security guards tried to stop the vehicle, but the suspects speeded off toward the Central Business District (CBD).

The chase was soon joined by SAPS and CSC Virtual Guarding response team.

The chase stretched through the streets until the bakkie stopped on Main Street. Police searched the bakkie and discovered the alleged stolen copper cable.

“A preliminary investigation on the scene concluded that the copper cable was stolen a few hours before from Laerskool Panorama in Blancheville.

“We have great appreciation for CSC Virtual Guarding and the police for the speedy reaction. The school is really happy with the service and reaction of our security company,” said Mr Paul Burger, principal of Laerskool Panorama.
