Witbank Citylads lost another game
Their next match will be an away fixture against third-placed Secunda Stars on Saturday, March 11.
Witbank Citylads has been losing matches for the past four weeks and it is a concern to their supporters, in fact, the three local teams in the ABC Motsepe League A stream are not doing well.
On Saturday, March 4 Citylads lost again 4-3 to Fernie Battalion in a very entertaining game played at Lynnville Stadium.
Citylads last tasted a win on Saturday, January 28 when they beat Kanyamazane All Stars 1-0.
Citylads after controlling the better part of the opening minutes of the first half lost the grip towards the end of the first half.
They had a place-kick and Ongama Ncayiyana’s shot was saved for a corner kick.
Battalion’s Andile Makwe and Treasure Mbuli nearly scored with their inter passes but the shot was saved.
Citylads man of the match Nkosehle Sangweni nearly scored after a place-kick with Mxolisi Ndaba failing to assist.
Citylads controlled the match going forward but Battalion back four Mbuli, Makwe, Bheki Zwane and Daluxolo Masina defended well.
Battalion gained the upper hand and put Citylads under pressure when they build up from the back and put more players in front.
Citylads’ Sangweni nearly register a goal but his shot went wide.
Battalion Jan Baloyi had his shot saved for a corner kick.
Citylads captain Xolani Kheswa had his shot blocked.
On the other end, Battalion’s Franscisco Mshwana missed with a wide shot.
Battalion scored their opening goal through Paul Khumalo after being set free with a pass and added another goal to make it 2-0 in the first half and was in control of the match.
Citylads did not lose hope easily when they regrouped and started on good footing in the second half.
Citylads scored two quick goals through Sangweni to level matters and action moved from one side to the other.

Citylads missed several scoring opportunities while Battalion was able to put one back to make the score 3-2.
Citylads equalised to make it 3-3 after catching Battalion on the break.
Battalion Paul Khumalo initiated a good move and scored to make the final score 4-3.
Citylads have played 15 matches and have won four matches, drawing three and losing eight matches so far and accumulating 15 points and are in the danger zone.
