Tingabisa dancing for the love of it

They are well-known throughout eMalahleni and have danced their way to competitions and events throughout the country.

A group of young girls are so dedicated to their dancing and they want people to support them so that they can show the world what they can do.

The group, Tingabisa Cultural Group under the wing of Ms Esther Thwala started the group in 2016 in Ga-Nala and she aims to get the girls off the streets to one place and wanted to do something positive in their lives.

She said she is protecting the girls from using drugs and alcohol, teenage pregnancy and from being kidnapped.

The oldest member of the group is 14 while the youngest is four years old.

They meet at Thwala House on Monday to Friday after school from 15:00 to 17:00 and on Saturday they meet from 12:00 to 14:00.

“I only want the best for my ‘children’. I want to see them succeed in life and I want to teach them to be proud of their culture. Dancing is part of our culture. I also teach them life skills and help them in their studies and in whatever other way. We face lots of challenges as a group because most of them are from poor families, but we’ve tried our best under the difficult conditions,” Thwala said.

According to Thwala, the group visited KwaZulu-Natal last year twice in Nkondlo and KwaNongoma to dance.

She says she is very protective of her children and only wants the best for them.

Her wish is to have the support of their parents and community members at large.

She believes that God will help them to succeed in life and the girls to have a bright future.
