Residents should take note of where to safely enjoy the use of fireworks

Fireworks are a given on New Year's eve and locations have been given where residents can enjoy fireworks safely.

The Emalahleni Local Municipality has set out various locations in eMalahleni to safely enjoy the use of fireworks.

The municipality has condemned the usage of fireworks in residential areas as they can cause fires and lead to harm to residents and animals, especially dogs.

Witbank SPCA is urging residents not to set off fireworks near animals as the sound causes shock and distress in animals.

Residents who experience fireworks in residential areas can contact the local Fire Department at 013 690 6222/333/444 for assistance.

Residents can make use of the following areas to make use of fireworks;

*Lynnville tennis court, the open field next to Sy Mthimunye Stadium. *Empumelelweni sports ground, Extention 14 near Emsagweni outline sports ground.

*Del Judor park in Steenkamp Street.

*Likazi playground in Old Coronation, Extention 5 soccer field next to Love Life.

*Klipfontein Dam.

*Phola soccer field located on Mthimunye Street.

*Ogies soccer field situated next to the Council Chambers,

*Thubelihle soccer field.

*Ga-Nala rugby field.

*Extention 11 and 14 open spaces.

*Pineridge Stadium.

*Rietspruit open space situated next to the hall,

*Klarinet X5

*Schoongezight sports ground.

Residents should take the necessary precautions when using fireworks to prevent serious injury and harm.
