‘School cops’ get recognition for their hard work

Greendale got a chance to thank their Adopt-a-cops.

SAPS Witbank in partnership with the Department of Education showed its commitment to ensuring schools in eMalahleni were a safe environment for pupils to learn during the 2022 academic year.

Through the Adopt-a-Cop project, members of Witbank SAPS ‘adopted’ schools in the eMalahleni policing precinct.

“The designated police officers were responsible for creating awareness at schools and sensitising learners on the dangers of bullying, substance abuse, dealing in drugs, carrying of dangerous weapons as well as gangsterism amongst learners,” said police spokesperson Captain Eddie Hall.

On Friday, December 2 two of the Adopt-a-Cops of Greendale School were rewarded for their efforts during the past academic year at the school.

Lieutenant Colonel Nomsa Mtsweni and Sergeant David Ratau received certificates and trophies from the school.
