Witbank Methodist Church celebrates with lunch and songs

Congratulations go to the lucky winner, of the Christmas cake lucky draw, Shenagh van Rooyen.

Witbank Methodist Church recently celebrated the year with a thanksgiving lunch and Christmas Carol Service.

Church members expressed that it was a pleasure to meet freely as a group and as a church family after so long.

A tasty meal of beef curry and roasted chicken pieces was served with savoury rice, beans and carrots; pasta salad and Greek salad were part of the sides.

Trifle was served to end the meal.

Catering was done by Gugu Mnisi and her team of ladies. Congratulations to the lucky winner of the Christmas cake lucky draw, Shenagh van Rooyen.

The Christmas Carol service and Thanksgiving service with communion on Sunday, 4 December were open to the church and community.

The theme of the Christmas Carol Service was ‘In the despair of pain and uncertainty; God is ever-present’.

The sermon message acknowledged the real-life experiences faced by our community, including GBV, poverty and financial constraints, marital problems, drugs, and substance abuse, which leave people emotionally drained.

Reverend Koekoe would like to thank the circuit stewards and all members for their energy, and love during 2022, “Peace on earth and goodwill to all people. Remember to put Christ back into Christmas,” Rev Koekoe said.
