‘Words can barely express how thankful I am for everyone who helped in searching for Bokkie’ says mom

Bokkie’s mom Ms Marlies Jan expressed her gratitude towards everyone who helped looking for her son.

Shaydino Padda’s death is devastating.

Shaydino or Bokkie (5) as he is lovingly known was found on Wednesday, November 23 after he went missing earlier this week.

“I knew Bokkie was dead, but I kept on hoping, praying and searching for my boy. But deep inside I already expected the worse,” Ms Marlies Jan, Bokkie’s mom told WITBANK NEWS.

Marlies said Bokkie was with his father for the weekend and her concern grew when he did not bring Bokkie back as they arranged on Sunday, November 20.

“I spoke to the father’s family and they assured me Bokkie is safe.”

When Marlies returned home after work on Monday she discovered that some of her clothes were missing from a cupboard and she also noticed a pile of dirty clothes from her son on the floor.

“It is a mystery why Bokkie’s father would take my clothes. My concern grew and an unsettling uneasiness came over me,” Marlies said.

She opened a missing person’s report at Witbank Police Station and frantically started searching for her son.

Social media was inundated as everyone shared the missing person’s flyer.

Marlies then received news that Bokkie’s father had allegedly committed suicide at a local high school on Tuesday November 22. “My whole world changed in that one single telephone conversation. I knew finding my son was not going to have a happy ending.”

Tears made their way out of Marlies’ weary eyes. The past few days have taken it’s toll on the mother of two.

“I am empty; I have too many questions and very few answers …”

Marlies is struggling to come to terms and cope with the sudden loss.

But she said she finds comfort in knowing that Bokkie pulled the Emalahleni community together in prayer.
