Man found murdered in Masakhane

A man was allegedly killed after being accused of stealing.

A 30-year-old man’s body was discovered in the Masakhane Informal Settlement in Duvha with no sign of life.

According to reports, around 07:00 on Thursday, November 17, police were called to a scene and found a man lying on the street who had been allegedly assaulted.

Furthermore, a man introduced himself as the one who called the station and informed them that the victim had been assaulted by five suspects who allegedly accused him of stealing.

One of the suspects, who allegedly assaulted the victim, was arrested right away.

On Monday, November 21, five suspects are expected to make their first appearance in eMalahleni Magistrate Court.

Brigadier Moses Bolton, station commander of the Witbank Police Station, warned that the public should not take the law into their own hands when they execute civilian arrests.

Instead, he advised the public to “hand over the suspect or suspects to the police immediately after arrest and let the law take its course.”
