The Santa Shoebox Project a success, reaching children far and wide

The Santa Shoebox Project originated in Cape Town in 2006 with just 180 shoeboxes.

Each year the Santa Shoebox Project collects and distributes personalised gifts of essential items and treats for underprivileged children throughout South Africa and Namibia.

In 16 years, the generosity of the various institutes and public sectors has reached 10 77 289 children.

The Santa Shoebox Project originated in Cape Town in 2006 with just 180 shoeboxes.

Currently the shoeboxes are collected all over South Africa and get redistributed to over 1 000 recipient facilities each year.

The project is supported by an extensive network of volunteers across South Africa and Namibia.

This year the WITBANK NEWS joined the cause and handed over their shoe boxes to the Witbank Ladies Circle where they are collecting all over eMalahleni.

Each of the boxes could be decorated. Some had made it a Christmas themed box where others got creative with ribbons and beautiful colours in hope that the children can use not only the essential items inside, but also the box to keep all their toys for safekeeping for months to come.
